According to the article “High Court Won’t Stop Execution of Cal Coburn Brown” Friday the 13th is set to be Mr. Brown’s last day alive because he is scheduled to be executed for the torture, rape, and murder of a young woman. What is interesting about Mr. Brown’s case is that he suffers from a bipolar disorder which the court appears to be fully aware of. The article also mentions that Mr. Brown has been able to control his condition since receiving the proper medication. I was under the impression that an individual with a mental illness has the advantage of pleading not guilty because they are legally insane and therefore not liable for any wrong doing. This does not appear to be the case for Mr. Brown. Maybe he needed a better lawyer or maybe being insane is no longer a get out of free jail card?
